Softball to face six-game stretch in five days

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech softball is gearing up for a stretch of six games against current and future Ohio Valley Conference teams. The Golden Eagles will host Jacksonville State and Belmont, then take to the road to play Tennessee State this weekend.

Tech's week begins with a doubleheader on Wednesday against Jacksonville State, who was picked to win the OVC this season. The Gamecocks (10-15, 5-1 OVC) have won six of their last seven games, with the only loss coming at Murray State on Saturday. JSU swept Eastern Illinois in Jacksonville and picked up two more wins in Murray. The first pitch for Wednesday is slated for 2 p.m.

The Golden Eagles will then host future OVC-member Belmont on Thursday to make up a rained-out date on March 8. Tech looks to avenge a loss earlier this season to the Bruins in the Frost Classic (2/25), a game in which Belmont won 6-5.

Tech will then head to Nashville for a weekend series against Tennessee State (7-15, 0-3 OVC). The Tigers will host Austin Peay on Wednesday, then wrap up their 14-game homestand with the series against the Golden Eagles.

Coach Tory Acheson and his squad will go on the road for their third game against Jacksonville State before returning home on March 31 for a weekend series against Southeast Missouri.
