COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech senior Lacie Coquerille has been named to the Capitol One Academic All-District third-team for District IV. The teams were voted on by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.

To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Other District IV schools include Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan.

This is the third consecutive time Coquerille has been named Academic All-District, joining fellow softball alums Beth Boden (06-08) and Andrea Roark (91-93) as the only three Tech softball players to accomplish this feat in every year they were eligible.

Coquerille's third academic all-district honor represents the 20th time a TTU softball player has been selected and the 11th time since Tory Acheson took over as head coach in 1998. This is also the 106th a Tech athlete has won the award, dating back to 1985.

A biology and human sciences major from Rocky Face, Ga., Coquerille has maintained a 3.74 GPA during her four years at Tech, while starting in more than 200 softball games. She has also been named to the TTU Athletic Director's and Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Rolls for every semester she has been at Tech.

Her on-the-field awards include being named the Golden Eagles MVP and Best Defensive Infielder for the last two seasons, as well as the team's Best Offensive Infielder in 2009 and to the all-OVC first team in 2009.

In 620 career at-bats, Coquerille has hit for a .266 average while scoring 83 runs and driving in 66. She has also maintained a .974 fielding percentage.

Coquerille is one of seven OVC softball players to be named Academic All-District in 2011.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the 2011 regular season this weekend with a three-game series against the UT Martin Skyhawks. The first pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
