Jacksonville State downs Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Jacksonville State's offense powered its way past Tennessee Tech as it took the 13-2, five-inning victory at  the Tech Softball Field.

The Gamecocks did not waste any time as they used four walks, two hit batters and a grand slam from Krystal Ruth to build an 8-0 lead in the top of the first.
 
JSU would not let up as it put up a pair of runs in both the second and third innings and one in the fourth to increases its lead to 13-0.
 
The Golden Eagles managed to get a pair of runs off JSU's Tiffany Harbin on a two-run single from Brittney Spalding in the bottom of the fifth, but that was all Tech could muster as it fell 13-2 in five innings.
 
Holly Thomas was saddled with the loss, falling to 10-6, while Harbin improved to 16-5 as she gave up two unearned runs, while striking out nine.
 
Tech (15-15, 6-8 OVC) continues conference play this weekend in a three-game series at SIU Edwardsville. The series opens with a doubleheader Saturday, at 1 p.m.
