Golden Eagles host final home series of the season against Austin Peay

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Sitting just one win behind Morehead State for the final spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, the Tennessee Tech softball team will look to claw its way up the standings as it hosts its final home series of the season against Austin Peay this weekend.

Tech leads the all-time series against the Lady Govs with a 61-17 record. The Golden Eagles have built a 19-game winning streak against Austin Peay, and have not lost to the Lady Govs since the 2003 season.
 
APSU owns an 11-33 record and sits in 10th place in the OVC standings with a 6-18 conference record, which includes a 1-5 mark in its last six games. The Lady Govs are led by Tiffany Smith, who has driven in 18 runs, while hitting four home runs.  
 
The Golden Eagles went 2-of-3 in their last home series against Morehead State, which saw pitcher Holly Thomas come away with a pair of wins. At the plate, catcher Callie Schmidt paced the Golden Eagle offense with one home run and four RBI.
 
The first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m., with the second game following shortly after. Game three of the series is set for Sunday, at 1 p.m.
