Tech softball wraps up its non-conference schedule against Lipscomb, Belmont

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After taking two-of-three games against Morehead State, the Tennessee Tech softball team will look to keep things going in non-conference play as they travel to Lipscomb Wednesday, and Belmont Thursday.

The Golden Eagles begin the week with a single-game against the Lipscomb Lady Bisons. Tech is 11-8 all-time against Lipscomb, but the Lady Bisons have won three of their last four meetings against TTU, including a pair of wins last season.

Lipscomb currently owns a 27-17 record, which included three 1-0 victories in its last three games. The Lady Bisons are led by Mollie Mitchell at the plate, who has driven in a team-high 36 runs. In the circle, Whitney Kiihnl has paced the Lipscomb rotation as she has amassed an 18-9 record.

The opening pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Tech wraps up its non-conference schedule Thursday with a doubleheader at Belmont, beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for March 2, but weather put the games on hold. Tech is 24-2 all-time against Belmont which includes a pair of shutout victories last season.

The Bruins stand at 10-37 on the season and are currently on a six-game losing streak, including a pair of loses to UT Martin. The Belmont offense has run through Ashley Byers this season as she has hit nine home runs and has 28 RBI.

The opening pitch is set for 4 p.m.
