COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team continues its Bluegrass swing Saturday as it travels to Lexington, Ky., for a non-conference doubleheader with the Kentucky Wildcats. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats enter the weekend the owners of a 29-10 record,
including an 11-6 Southeastern Conference mark. At the plate, UK is
led by Brittany Cervantes who has belted a team-high 13 home runs
and driven in a team-leading 43 RBI. In the circle, the Wildcats
are led by Chanda Bell who leads the team with 10 wins and a
team-best 2.01 ERA.
Recently, Tech has split its last two games, including a win
at Eastern Kentucky and a loss at home to Western Kentucky. During
that stretch, catcher Callie Schmidt
has paced the Golden Eagle offense with a pair of home runs and
seven RBI.
Kentucky leads the all-time series, 2-1, which includes a 3-1
victory the last time they met back in 2005.
