COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Standing at 14-12 on the season, the Tennessee Tech softball team will look to build upon its 5-5 Ohio Valley Conference mark this weekend as it hosts Eastern Illinois in a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader Saturday.
Since their first meeting in 1995, the Golden Eagles have
built a 29-14 all-time record against the Panthers, including a 3-2
victory in their previous encounter during the OVC Tournament last
season.
The Golden Eagles are led on offense by senior Lacie
Coquerille, who has posted a team-leading 17 RBI, while batting
for a .303 average. Junior Holly Thomas has
recorded a team-high 10 wins on the season, while striking out 84
batters.
The Panthers have built a 21-5 record, including a perfect 8-0
OVC record. At the plate, EIU is led by Melise Brown who owns a
team-leading .458 batting average, and has scored a team-high 23
runs. In the circle, the Panthers have a pair of nine-game winners
including Stephanie Maday, who has posted four shutouts and a 0.73
ERA.
The opening pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1
p.m., with the second game set to follow at 3 p.m. Sunday's game is
slated for 1 p.m.
