Three Golden Eagles go yard as Tech crushes East Tennessee State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech bats were out in force for their final contest of the Frost Classic as the Golden Eagles routed the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.

TTU notched two runs in both the third and fourth innings, including a two-run shot in the third off the bat of Brittney Spalding, to increase its lead to 8-0.

ETSU tallied five runs in the fifth, but in the bottom of the sixth the Golden Eagle bats took charge as they accounted for six more runs, including a grand slam from Cummings, to put the game away 14-5.

Gates and Cummings accounted for 10 of the team's 14 RBI, while sophomore Melody Christian crossed the plate three times.

Junior Holly Thomas won her third straight contest as she pitched 4.2 innings while striking out two.
