BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - After breaking his career-high twice already
this year in the air rifle competition, Austin Litherland of the
Tennessee Tech rifle team was named the Ohio Valley Conference Air
Rifle Athlete of the Month.
Litherland has shot, 578, 581, 585, 589, and 576 in Tennessee
Tech's competitions this year. He improved on his high scores three
consecutive weeks to lead the Golden Eagles. His 589 is a career
high.
"Austin has come a long way since his arrival at Tennessee Tech,"
said TTU rifle coach Steve Law. "He has consistently improved his
shooting skills through hard work, dedication and a great work
ethic. I couldn't be more proud. I anticipate him qualifying for
the NCAA Championships"
Kyle Rebillion, a freshman from UT Martin was named the OVC
Smallbore Athlete of the month after averaging a 566.5 score in
seven fall competitions, firing a season-high 572 on Oct. 4 against
Columbus State. Rebillion eclipsed the 570 mark against versus
Morehead State on Oct. 24 and shot a match-high 567 at Tennessee
Tech on Oct. 11.
The Tennessee Tech rifle team will compete again on Nov. 21 at
Jacksonville State.
