Rifle finishes ninth at Ole Miss Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Tennessee Tech rifle team competed in the Ole Miss Invitational on Sunday, September 26 in Oxford, Miss. The Golden Eagles sat in third place in the two-day invitational with an aggregate score of 4488 but fell to a ninth place finish after the second day of competition took place.

Fifteen total teams competed, nine of which shot this past Sunday, while the other five teams shot with TTU two Sundays ago. The scores from the two days were combined to determine a winner -- which turned out to be Texas Christian University with an aggregate score fo 4641. Murray State finished second (4602) and host Ole Miss came in third (4582).

Leading the way for Tech was Austin Litherland who posted an aggregate score of 1143 after finishing with a 578 mark in air rifle and 565 score in small bore - both team highs.

Other Golden Eagles in action on Sunday were Curtis Gagne (1124), Patrick Stidham (1117), and Krystle Harris (1100). Johnathan Zimmerer only shot smallbore for the Golden Eagles and finished with a score of 541.

The Golden Eagles return to action this weekend at home against the UT Martin Skyhawks. Competition will begin on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m.
