COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—With months of training and numerous meets to prepare them, it is time for the Tennessee Tech men and women's cross country teams to put their talents to the test at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday.

"We're very excited about the upcoming championships," head coach Wayne Angel remarked. "We are in a good place now and both teams are at full strength and ready to go."

The women will compete in a 5,000-meter race with a shotgun start set at 9 a.m., while the men will contend in an 8,000-meter race beginning at 10 a.m. at Vaughn's Creek Cross Country Course at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.

"We are well prepared and ready to compete at a high level," Angel continued. "It's up to both teams to take advantage of their excellent fitness."

The men will look to freshman sensation Gilbert Boit to pace them. Boit has led the Golden Eagles in every meet thus far this season, setting an 8K personal record at the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 1, with a school-best time of 23:59.70.

Newcomer Micayla Rennick will be expected to lead the Tech women on Saturday. Rennick has finished first for the Golden Eagle squad in every meet thus far this year, setting a personal best 5K time of 17:53.62 at the Greater Louisville Classic.

The Tech teams will look to improve upon last year's OVC Championships where the men placed ninth amongst the 12 league teams, and the women placed eighth.

"I think a top four finish for the men and a top five finish for the women is a strong possibility," Angel said. "We have to have confidence in the process and let the results take care of itself."
