COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - First year Tennessee Tech cross country and track & field head coach Wayne Angel has announced the addition of Samantha Linck to his staff as an assistant coach.

"I'm extremely pleased that we were able to add Samantha to our staff," Angel said of his newest coach. "Samantha's energy and drive, coupled with her experience and success in the jumps at the Division one level, makes her a great fit here. Samantha has a strong interest in the academic success of the student-athlete. We are excited to have Samantha join the Golden Eagle family".

A native of Kohler, Wis., Linck comes to Tech following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Western Illinois. While at WIU, Linck coached pole vault, high jump, triple jump, long jump, the heptathlon, and the decathlon.

Under her tutelage, she saw five student-athletes finish top-three at both the Summit League Indoor and Outdoor Championship meets in 2013-14. Four were able to qualify for the NCAA Division I West Regional in the 2013-14 season. From there one of Linck's student-athletes went on to qualifying for the NCAA Division I National Meet, and was able to earn NCAA Division I All-American 2nd Team status for the performance.

She earned her Masters of Science in sports management from WIU in 2014.

Linck graduated from Lewis University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sport management and minor in coaching. She was a two-time All-American jumper for Lewis. Linck also earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Year award in 2012.

"I am excited to be here at Tennessee Tech," Linck said of her newest opportunity. "I look forward to working with the cross country and track teams and the opportunity to work with and learn from coach Angel and (assistant) coach (Eugene) Frazier.

"I was drawn to Tennessee Tech by the positive atmosphere that the athletic department exudes, as well as the beautiful area that Tennessee Tech calls home."

Linck currently resides in Cookeville, Tenn.
