Golden Eagle runners to race at Berry College Invitational Saturday


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- In their final tune-up before running in the Ohio Valley Conference championships in two weeks, the Tennessee Tech women's and men's cross country teams will be in north Georgia Saturday for the Berry College Invitational.

The meet will feature 17 women's squads and 14 men's teams, with the 8K men's race beginning at 8:45 a.m. ET and the women's 6K to follow at 9:30 a.m. ET.

TTU coach Tony Cox will determine the lineup for the OVC meet from the results this weekend. Tech will have eight entries in the men's event and nine running in the women's race.

The TTU men's lineup will include Kolbe Andrzejewski, Matt Bishop, Daniel Francis, Charlie Jordan, Mike Mahan, Adam McLeod, Matt Pennycuff and Sterling Smith. Mahan, a junior from Tullahoma, Tenn., posted Tech's fastest time last week at the TTU Invitational.

Running for Tech in the women's event will be Rebecca Cline, Kathryn Forbes, Landry Loving, Amelia McCoy, Beth Miller, Elizabeth Mitchell, Meghan O'Donoghue, Kara Webb and Peri Winborne. Tech's top runner this season has been Beth Miller, a senior from Watertown, Wis.

Results will be posted on the Berry College athletics website www.berryvikings.com <http://www.berryvikings.com/>as soon as the races are completed. A complete race review will be available on TTUsports.com later in the day.
 
In addition to Tech and host Berry College, schools scheduled to compete include Chattahoochee Tech, Covenant College, Cumberland University, Emory University, Fort Valley State, Georgia Southwestern, Georgia State, Gordon College, LaGrange College, Point University, Savannah College of Arts and Design, University of the South, Union College, Wesleyan College, West Georgia and  Young Harris College.

For fans planning to follow the teams to the meet, Berry College has provided a campus map (click here).  When you enter the campus (2277 Martha Berry Hgy Mount Berry Ga.), turn right off the roundabout at the flag pole to get to the course. The course is located on the west side of the Ford Buildings numbered 3-9 on the map. Parking will be located on the west and south sides of the Ford complex. Overflow parking will be available behind Hermann Hall (#2 on the map) and the Science building (#25 on the map).
