After two successful seasons at Maryville College, Michael transferred to Tech. An honors student during his high school career, he was a standout runner at Tullahoma High School before embarking on his college career.

AT TECH (In 2011): Michael ran in all seven meets in 2011 and was a consistent third-place finisher for Tech in every race...set new personal-bests in five of those seven meets in his first season competing for the Golden Eagles...after posting a 28:56 8K at Sewanee, he bested that time by almost 50 seconds at Georgia State, posting a 28:11...bested his PR by nearly 20 seconds with a 27:49 at Jacksonville State, then set his current PR with a 27:36 at Evansville...ran his first collegiate 10K at the NCAA South Regional, posting a 34:54.

(In 2010): Michael joined the Golden Eagle squad but did not compete in any races during the season.

BEFORE TECH: Michael spent two years at Maryville College, where he ran on the cross country tream both years...named Freshman of the Year in the GSAC Conference and earned all-conference honors.

HIGH SCHOOL: Michael earned two letters on the track team under coach Clester Winningham and three for coach David Benjamin on the cross country squad....named the MVP while serving as team captain during his senior year on the cross country team...selected all-region and earned the opportunity to run in the TSSAA state meet...helped the track & field team capture two district championships.

PERSONAL: The son of Ben and Georgia Mahan...full name is Michael Craig Mahan...born Feb. 27, 1990 in Tullahoma, Tenn...majoring in exercise science with pre-physical therapy emphasis.
