Golden Eagle tennis team in Nashville for ITA Ohio Valley Regionals

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team makes the quick trip down I-40 for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Nashville, set to kick off action Thursday, Oct. 24 and hosted by Vanderbilt University.  

Tech will send a trio of doubles tandems to the tournament, while four different Golden Eagles will also appear in singles action. Thursday's first round of doubles play will begin at 8 a.m. CT and the first-round of singles play will kick off at 11 a.m.

The Tech tandem of Fanis Kontopoulos and Marc Mila will greet Louisville's David Mizrahi and Randy Wilson in the doubles first round, while the Tech pair of Riku Kubota and Lucca Silva will lock up with Butler's Michael Dickson and Ryan Roegner in doubles first-round play. Rounding out the doubles action for the Golden Eagles is the pairing of Elias Grubert and Carlos Vicente, matched up against IUPUI's Alex Jochim and Colton Morehart.

The second round of doubles action will also take place Thursday. The third round will commence Friday, the quarterfinals are set for Saturday, the semifinals will follow on Sunday and the final will take place on Monday.

As far as singles play is concerned, Carlos Vicente will say hello to Dayton's Steven Karl in Thursday's first round. Riku Kubota will take on Butler's Alvaro Huete in his singles bout while Elias Grubert will face Jeremy Taylor from Memphis. Rafael Tosetto completes the Tech singles draw, squaring off with Dayton's Georgi Mavrodiev.

The second round of the singles main draw is set for Friday action while the consolation draw will begin Friday as well. Saturday will feature the third and fourth rounds of singles main draw and the second and third rounds of the consolation draw. Quarterfinals and semifinals for both the main and consolation brackets will begin on Sunday with the finals for both wrapping up on Monday.
