SOPHOMORE (2018-19): Kubota compiled another strong year in purple and gold, culminating in a spot on the All-OVC second team…went 10-7 in singles action during the spring, highlighted by a perfect 4-0 mark in OVC play…won both of his singles matches in straight sets in the OVC Tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 nod over Eastern Illinois in the semifinals and a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the championship match against Jacksonville State…dominant out of the No. 4 singles spot with a 6-1 mark during the spring…finished the spring on a roll with wins in seven of his final nine singles bouts…put together a 6-4 singles resume in the fall…started the fall campaign on a roll with four straight wins in Tech’s first tournament of the year, the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga. (Sept. 7-9), to make it all the way to the semifinals of the event…posted an 11-12 overall doubles record, going 4-3 in the fall and 7-9 in the spring…notched a 3-1 doubles mark in OVC play.

FRESHMAN (2017-18): Kubota entered the Tech mix during the spring and put together a strong rookie campaign with a 4-1 OVC singles record…went 8-10 overall during singles play…propelled the Golden Eagles to their third straight OVC Tournament championship with the deciding win over Belmont in the No. 5 singles matchup (the match was tied 3-3)…put together a 5-0 OVC doubles resume…overall went 8-7 during doubles action, highlighted by an 8-4 mark out of the No. 2 spot.

BEFORE TECH: A native of Takasaki, Gunma, Japan, Kubota attended Kyoai Gakuen High School.

PERSONAL: Son of Takako and Koichi Kubota…birthday is June 30, 1998.
