NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team is officially on a winning streak.

It was as narrow as they come, but behind securing the doubles point, the Golden Eagles (2-5) registered a 4-3 win at Lipscomb for the club's second-straight victory.

Tech split its six singles bouts, but found itself in the driver's seat early on with nods in all three doubles battles over the Bisons (2-2). Marc Mila and Arthur Justo registered a 6-2 victory over Alejandro Manzanares and Victor Chaw out of the No. 1 spot, while Wenceslao Albin and Riku Kubota edged Jorge Ortegon and Daniel Cardenas, 6-4, in the No. 2 slot and Eduardo Mena and Gonzalo Garcia marched their way to a 6-4 win against Francesco Tacconi and Pedro Uribe in the No. 3 position.

Mena, the nation's 51st ranked player, continued his winning ways in singles action, knocking off Alejando Manzanares, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1, in the top spot. Freshmen Gonzalo Garcia and Riku Kubota followed suit with wins of their own, as Garcia toppled Daniel Cardenas, 6-7, 8-4, 6-2, in the No. 4 matchup and Kubota took down Francesco Tacconi, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 5 tilt.

Garcia's nod pushed him to a club-best four singles victories this spring, while Mena evened his record at 3-3 and Kubota checked the win for the first time this season.

Jorge Alfonzo was upended, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot, a similar fate for Wenceslao Albin, who was tripped up by Jorge Ortegon, 6-4, 7-6, in the No. 3 position.

Arthur Justo rounded out Tech's singles matchups with a 7-6, 6-4 loss in the No. 6 slot to Pedro Uribe.

The Golden Eagles will prepare for their first match in Cookeville this year, hosting Chattanooga on Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon CT. Admission to Tech Tennis Courts is free of charge.
