Tech tennis heads to North Carolina for Wake Forest Fall Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A quartet of Golden Eagles are set to showcase their skills over the weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C., as Jorge Alfonzo, Wenceslao Albin, Gonzalo Garcia and Arthur Justo will represent the Tennessee Tech tennis team in the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.

A three-day event that features seven different singles and six different doubles brackets is slated to kickoff Friday morning. Each singles bracket consists of 16 players and each doubles bracket contains eight different duos. The weekend's action will take place at Wake Forest Tennis Complex and Indoor Tennis Center.

Jorge Alfonzo and Gonzalo Garcia will help get the festivities going in the A2 doubles bracket, as the two will team up and clash with Campbell's Lorenz Schwab and Gerard Sola Friday at 8 a.m. CT. The other Golden Eagle tandem of Wenceslao Albin and Arthur Justo will greet UNC Asheville's Oli Nolan and Andrew Sinai in the B2 doubles bracket, also beginning Friday at 8 a.m.

The doubles semifinals are scheduled for Saturday and the finals are on Sunday.

As far as singles play is concerned, Justo is in the B1 singles bracket and will lock up with Wofford's Parks Shoen Friday at 8:45 a.m. CT., one of two TTU matchups that will begin at 8:45. Gonzalo Garcia will meet Liberty's Eddie Gutierrez for his first round affair in the B2 singles bracket.

Jorge Alfonzo will connect with Charlotte's Constandinos Christoforou as part of the A1 singles bracket at 9 a.m. CT from the Indoor Tennis Center, while Wenceslao Albin rounds out Tech's quartet with a meeting against Davidson's David Hager at 10 a.m. in the B2 singles bracket.

The singles quarterfinals are slated for Friday afternoon. The semifinals are on Saturday and the finals are on Sunday.
