JUNIOR (2016-17): Mena put together another season to remember, earning a series of impressive accolades during his junior campaign…named the OVC Player of the Year for the second-straight season…reserved a spot on the all-OVC first team…named the 2017 Tennessee Tech Male Athlete of the Year…ended the year ranked 54th in the nation among DI singles players by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)…became the first Golden Eagle ever to win a match in the NCAA DI singles championships, knocking off Baylor’s Maxime Tchoutakiam, 6-4, 7-6 (6)…posted a 17-2 singles record during the spring, all out of the No. 1 spot in Tech’s lineup…went a perfect 6-0 in OVC action…ended the year on a 13-match win streak in singles play…won both of his OVC Tournament singles matchups in the semifinals and finals, out of the No. 1 slot, to help lead the Golden Eagles to the title…including fall play, led the team with a 22-5 overall singles mark.

SOPHOMORE (2015-16): Mena was a force in the Ohio Valley Conference in his sophomore season, posting a 9-0 record in singles play...was named the OVC Player of the Year and was on the all-OVC first team...finished 20-1 in singles play in Spring 2016 with the only loss coming from Wake Forest's nationally-ranked Romain Bogaerts...Mena had a strong performance against the nation’s top player, Mikael Torpegaard from Ohio State, at the NCAA Championships. Mena captured the first set 7-6 (7-5), then took a 3-2 lead in the second set before the battle was called off as the Buckeyes clinched the match.

FRESHMAN (2014-15): Eduardo burst on to the scene as a freshman, taking home the OVC Freshman of the Year in addition to being named to All-OVC second team…went 25-14 in singles play to lead Tech in wins, serving primarily in the No. 2 and No. 3 spot in the lineup…went 15-6 during the spring, including going 6-1 in the OVC…went on a 10-match win streak at one point during the spring…went 14-16 overall during doubles play, including going 3-3 in the OVC…went a perfect 5-0 during doubles play out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

BEFORE TECH: Has been playing tennis since he was four...learned the game from his father, a physical education teacher...began with formal coaching when he was eight...was coached by Jose Luis Mertinez since the time he was 12 years old...played for the San Sebastian de Los Reyes club team, competing in numerous tournaments...had much success including Master of the Region and several regional titles...also competed in soccer on a high level (Division I) since he was 15.

PERSONAL: The son of Eduardo Mena Rodriquez and Maria Isabel Rodado...full name is Eduardo Mena Rodado...born July 5, 1996 in Madrid.

ACADEMIC: Majoring in EXPW with focus on teacher licensure.
