COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following another stellar weekend on the courts, junior Eduardo Mena was recognized as the adidas® OVC Tennis Male Athlete of the Week, earning the award Wednesday afternoon.

In Tech's lone match of the week, Mena helped propel the Golden Eagles to a 6-1 Saturday win over Jacksonville State, seizing both his doubles and singles matchups out of the No. 1 spot. With the strong showing, Mena moves up to No. 55 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I collegiate rankings.

After both squads traded victories in doubles play, Mena and junior Marcos Bernardes broke the tie that captured the point, rallying late to dispose of JSU's top tandem of Jaryrd Reese and Austin McCormick with a 7-5 nod.

Mena would go on to win his singles tilt, taking care of business with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Reese out of the No. 1 slot. The 6-foot junior has now won nine-straight during singles play to improve his spring mark to a team-best 13-2.

Mena and the rest of the Golden Eagles will end the regular season with a pair of weekend home matchups, squaring off with Tennessee State Friday at 1 p.m. CT, before welcoming Belmont to Tech Tennis Courts for a Saturday meeting at 2 p.m.
