Tech hosts EIU in mid-week match-up

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team moved up its Friday match against Eastern Illinois to Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. due to pending inclement weather.

The Golden Eagles moved to 3-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play following a two-match sweep last weekend when Tech hosted Belmont and Tennessee State.

Against Belmont, with the match tied 3-3, the Golden Eagles turned to freshman Eduardo Mena to close out the match. Mena, who moved from the No. 3 spot up to the No. 2 spot, topped the Bruin's Marko Lovrinovic, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, to break a 3-3 tie and bring an end to the match.

The Golden Eagles continued the winning ways with a 6-1 win over the visiting TSU Tigers.

The Panthers come to town following a 6-1 loss at Belmont on Tuesday afternoon. EIU is currently 3-11, 2-3 in OVC play.
