COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Postponed a couple weeks ago due to lousy weather, Tennessee Tech's Ohio Valley Conference tennis match with Austin Peay is set for 1 p.m. Thursday (March 27) on the TTU campus courts. The meeting was originally slated for Sunday, March 16, but had to be delayed when cold weather and sleet made it impossible to get onto the courts.

Since then, the Golden Eagles have last three consecutive league outings, falling at Jacksonville State, Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville. Coach Kenny Doyle and his squad are hoping a return to their home courts can turn the tide and return them to the win column.

Austin Peay comes into the match with a 7-4 overall record, including a 2-1 mark in OVC matches. Most recently, the Govs took a 4-0 OVC match from Tennessee State after dropping a 4-3 contest to Belmont. A week earlier, APSU loss to Jacksonville State, 5-2. Alexsas Tverijonas has been the team leader in singles action, posting a 4-0 record in the No. 2 slot and going 6-1 at No. 3 for a combined 10-1 mark this spring in duals. Dimitar Ristovski has also posted a solid winning record, going 7-2 overall in dual matches including 3-0 at No. 1 and 4-2 at No. 2.

The Govs doubles team of Ristovski and Iago Seffrin 9-1 this spring, including a 3-0 mark at No. 1 and 6-1 at No. 2.

The Golden Eagles are 2-11 overall this spring, going 1-3 in conference matches. Oleksiy Arovin has posted an 11-2 mark in singles play, bringing a 10-match winning streak into Thursday's meeting with the Governors. He is 11-1 at No. 1 singles. Arovin and Alberto Esteban own a 5-4 record in the No. 1 doubles position, while Vasily Eremeev and Artem Tarasov (in photo above) are 5-5 at No. 2 doubles.

The Golden Eagles own a 40-24 all-time record against Austin Peay, winning 18 of the last 21 matches including a 5-2 victory last year in Clarksville. In fact, since 1988, Tech has lost only six of 30 matches with APSU and is unbeaten on the Tech courts during that span with a 12-0 record.
