COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech tennis team looks to notch
its initial victory of the dual match season when it visits UNC
Asheville Sunday afternoon for a 3 p.m. match at the ARC Indoor
Tennis Center.
While the Golden Eagles (0-4) have had more than a week to prepare
for the match since their last outing, the Bulldogs (2-1) will be
playing on their third consecutive day.
Tech dropped two matches in Louisville last Thursday (Jan. 30) to
Toledo and Louisville. UNC Asheville, meanwhile, faces Norfolk
State Friday and Elon Saturday, both at Elon, before returning to
its home courts to host Tech.
Tech and UNCA have split the only two previous meetings in tennis,
with the Golden Eagles claiming a 4-3 victory in 2012 and the
Bulldogs netting a 5-2 win last season. Tech's lineup Sunday will
include only two players who were in the match last year with UNCA,
while the Bulldog lineup includes four from last year's win over
the Golden Eagles.
Sunday's match is the only action for coach Kenny Doyle's team for
a week. Tech returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 15, with matches
in Atlanta against UNC Greensboro and Georgia State.
