Tech tennis team to compete in Elon Fall Invitational in North Carolina

ELON, N.C. - The Tennessee Tech tennis team will once again hit the courts, heading to the Elon Fall Invitational in Elon, N.C. Friday, Oct. 25. The tournament will run from Friday morning until Sunday, Oct. 27.

The tournament, which will be hosted by Elon University, will feature players from 12 universities, all vying for a title at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Five Golden Eagles will make the trip with head coach Kenny Doyle, with all five competing in singles play and four throwing their hats into the doubles play ring.

Leading things off for the Tech team will be Oleksiy Arovin. The Oklahoma State transfer will face-off against UNC-Asheville's Daniel Kripak in a 10 a.m. CDT match-up. Also taking an early draw will be Alberto Esteban. The freshman will play an 11 a.m. match against UNC-Asheville's Brett Landau.

Tech veteran Othon Lima will take on Peter Hviid of North Carolina Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Two Golden Eagles will take the court at 1:30 p.m. Senior Vasily Eremeev will face Jordan Kaufman of Elon while Nebraska transfer Gagan Jain will match-up against the winner of North Carolina Central's Kyle Hairston and UNC-Greensboro's Nazhone Wilkins.

On the doubles side of play, the Tech duo of Arovin/Eremeev will kick things off in a 3:30 p.m. bout with USC Upstate's capable team of Simonetti/Tajes. Also making a doubles appearance for the Golden Eagles will be the duo of Lima/Jain, taking on Bluefield College's Kitchen/Tugman in a 4 p.m. event.
