COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men’s tennis team will compete in five tournaments during the 2012 fall season, scheduled to get underway in early September.

“The fall season gives our guys a chance to compete in tournaments against high level competition,” head coach Kenny Doyle said. “It also gives them the opportunity to see where their games stand.”

Doyle has four players returning from last season’s OVC regular season championship squad including senior Syrym Abdukhaillikov and sophomore Alejandro Augusto, who was the OVC Freshman of the Year in 2012. Also back ar junior Vasily Eremeev and sophomore artem Tarasov.

“They’ve all been working hard since the spring season and these events give them a chance to weigh-in on their play at the regional and possibly national level,” Doyle said. "We're looking forward to playing."

The Golden Eagles will take part in three tournaments in September. The schedule begins Sept. 7-9 with the Southern Intercolleigates at the University of Georgia. After a week off, the team heads to the Louisville Invitational, Sept. 21-23. The month ends at the ITA All-America Championships, Sept. 29-Oct. 1, in Tulsa, Okla., for any Golden Eagles who qualify.

Doyle takes his players to Knoxville, Oct. 12-15, for the Tennessee Invitational, then wraps up the Fall portion of the schedule in Memphis, Oct. 18-21, with players who qualify for the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships.
