Golden Eagles wrap up their season on the road this weekend


COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Much is at stake this weekend as the Tennessee Tech tennis team travels to Austin Peay and Murray State to wrap up the season. The Golden Eagles are 7-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference, and have won 15 straight matches against league foes. 

A victory Saturday at Austin Peay would leave Tech as the only unbeaten team in the conference, and clinch a share of the OVC championship. The Golden Eagles' could then clinch the title outright with a win at Murray State on Sunday, giving the team its second straight regular season championship. 

Austin Peay possesses a 14-2 record overall and is 7-0 in OVC play. The Governors have only dropped four points in conference play. Peay wraps up their sesason at home, where they have been very difficult to beat, holding a 9-1 home record. Tennessee Tech faces Austin Peay Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The match will be held at the Governors Tennis Center.

Sunday, the Golden Eagles look to make it 12 consecutive victories against Murray State. The Racers are 1-6 in conference play, but enter this weekend winning their previous two matches after defeating Tennessee State last Saturday, and Western Kentucky on Wednesday. Tech faces Murray State at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
