COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech senior Syrym Abdukhalikov
has been rewarded for his continued success on the court, being
named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Male Athlete of the Week
in tennis for the second straight week.
Three was a magic number for Abdukhalikov last week, as he went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at the No. 1 doubles spot as Tennessee Tech picked up three conference wins at home.
Against Jacksonville State, he won the tiebreaker in the second set against undefeated Gamecock, Igor Santos. His win clinched the match for TTU. He also posted wins against SIUE and Eastern Illinois. He teamed with Alejandro Augusto to earn a trio of wins in the No. 1 doubles spot.
Abdukhalikov owns a 7-0 OVC singles mark and a 7-0 league
doubles record. Overall, the senior is 12-2 in singles play, and
8-6 in doubles.
Tech is undefeated in conference play, posting a 7-0 record. The
Golden Eagles face Austin Peay Saturday at 1 p.m. in Clarksville,
Tenn. before traveling to Murray, Ky. to face Murray State at 11
a.m. on Sunday.
