UNC Asheville claims 5-2 match over Golden Eagles


ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team fell to UNC-Asheville Sunday, 5-2, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. 

Freshman Orthon Lima earned his first singles victory of the season when he defeated Brett Landau in three sets at the No. 6 spot. Sophomore Alejandro Augusto notched Tech’s only other point by overcoming an early deficit and defeating Matt Waissen with dominance at the No. 2 slot.

In doubles play, junior Vasily Eremeev and sophomore Artem Tarasov continued their early season success by defeating Daniel Kripak and John Schubel in an 8-5 tiebreaker at No. 2.

Tech, 0-9, opens conference play at home in two weeks when they face Tennessee State on Saturday, March 16, at 12 pm.
