ATLANTA, Ga. -- Senior Syrym Abdukhalikov earned a 6-2, 6-2 straight set victory at the No. 1 singles position, but it was the lone point of the day for Tennessee Tech as the Golden Eagles were defeated by No. 63 Georgia State, 6-1, Monday morning in Atlanta.

The Panthers swept to all three doubles wins for a 1-0 lead in the match. Abdukhalikov and Alejandro Augusto fought a close battle before falling, 8-6, at No. 1.

Georgia State went up 2-0 when Sofiane Chevallier took a win at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 4-1, as Othon Lima retired from play.

Abdukhalikov posted his win over 54th ranked Victor Valente at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, to make it a 2-1 match, but that's where Tech's scoring ended.

Lucas Santa Ana posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Artem Tarasov, and the clincher came at No. 5 when Robert Schulze topped Alvaro Cintas, 6-3, 6-3. GSU tacked on two more points with wins at No. 4 and No. 2 for the final margin.

The Golden Eagles (0-4) will travel to Charlotte on Saturday and Winthrop Sunday.
