A player who began his career by being named as the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2009, Justin wraps up his four seasons on the Golden Eagle courts this season where he has compiled winning records in both singles and doubles play...known for his fight and refusal to back down, he has proven many times his willingness to compete all day...following the fall season, he heads into spring dual match schedule with an all-time 77-60 record, including a 46-34 mark in singles matches and a 31-26 record in doubles events...during his three seasons he has posted an impressive 15-4 record in OVC singles matches...ranks in the Top 15 all-time at Tech in both career singles wins and career singles winning percentage.
AT TECH -- In Fall 2011
(Senior): Justin had another strong start in tournament
play, jumping out to a 4-1 record in singles before finishing at
4-4...went 0-4 in doubles, pairing with Ezeqiel Gils twice and
Vasily Eremeev twice.
In 2010-11 (Junior): Justin was named second-team
all-OVC following the spring season...went 7-10 in dual play
in the spring for an overall 13-15 singles record in his junior
season...stepped up his game against OVC opponents to post a 5-2
record...was 11-12 overall in doubles play including 9-7 in the
spring...wrapped up the fall season with a singles
record of 6-5 and a doubles mark of 2-5...came out strong to start
the season, posting a 4-0 singles record when he took the
championship title of the UNCG Invitational A2 singles bracket.
In 2009-2010 (Sophomore): Justin was a big contributer
for Tech during the spring season, posting an overall singles
record of 13-7 for the year including a 2-2 OVC singles
record...rotated in and out of doubles play with other teammates
throughout the season, and held an overall 5-5 doubles record, most
of his success paired with Nick Stafford..his contributions helped
take the Golden Eagles to the conference tournament where they
placed second...Justin continued in the fall exactly where he left
off in the spring of his rookie season, posting wins in both
singles and doubles play...went 7-3 in his fall tournament action
in singles and was 4-3 in doubles.
In 2008-09 (Freshman): Justin went unbeaten with an 8-0
record in the OVC, and finished the year with a 16-8 overall record
in singles including a 15-5 mark in dual matches...was 13-5 at No.
4 and 2-0 at No. 5...in doubles play, he went 12-8 overall
including a solid 12-4 record when teaming with Oscar Pachon at No.
3 position...named the OVC Freshman of the Year.
Before Tech: Justin was coached by Earl Grainger...
achieved a ranking of three in South Africa... participated on the
Junior ITF circuit with a noticeable win over Mohamed Safwat of
Egypt, was was then ranked 42 in the world... played first team
rugby in high school and was awarded full colors in tennis during
his sophomore season.
