James wraps up his tennis career at Tennessee Tech in 2011-12, and figures to be a key contrinutor to the team's success especially in doubles play...has compiled a career mark that includes 29 overall wins, going 15-29 in singles matches and 14-21 in doubles play.
AT TECH -- In Fall 2011 (Senior): During
tournament play, James posted a 1-4 record in singles action and
was 2-2 in doubles while paired with two different playing
partners...split his two matches on the court with Vasily Eremeev,
and also went 1-1 with Ezequiel Gils.
In 2010-11 (Junior): James was 7-16 overall in singles
matches, including a 4-6 record in tournaments during the
fall...went 3-10 in dual matches, including a win in the OVC
Tournament...stepped up in doubles play to post a 10-14 overall
record, including 7-4 in tournament action...teamed with Lloyd
Harris to win the third-flight doubles championship at the UTC Fall
Classic.
In 2009-10: James was not a member of the
tennis squad.
In 2008-09 (Sophomore): James helped Tech claim the OVC
regular season title...played primarily at No. 6 singles and No. 3
doubles...played number two doubles against Jacksonville State in
the OVC Tournament.
IN 2007-08 (Freshman): A newcomer on the roster, James
was 13-11 overall in combined play in his first season at Tech,
including a 9-6 record in doubles matches and a 4-5 mark in
singles.
BEFORE TECH: James was coached by Julian
Godfrey...in addition to his No. 4 ranking in Hampshire, he has won
the Bristol Open U18 singles championship, the Hastings Open U18
singles and mixed doubles championship, and the Winchester men's
doubles championship...was captain of the Winchester National
Junior Club League for four years, and has led the team to reach
the Last Eight in the nation.
PERSONAL: James Alexander Crawford is the son of
Richard and Kathryn Crawford of Winchester, England...attended
Owens Road School in Winchester, and also studied at Peter Symonds
College...major is business.
