Back in action at UTC Fall Classic

CHATANOOGA, TENN.-- Tennessee Tech men's tennis team is back on the road this weekend to  compete in the University of Tennessee at Chatanooga Fall Classic Tournament. Four Tech players will compete amongst the top players in the region starting Friday morning.

The men will face opponents from 10 schools, including Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Jacksonville State, Kennessaw State, Lee University, Memphis, North Alabama, Samford, UNC Greensboro and UTC.

Tech is fresh off the court from the Southern Intercollegiate Championships last weekend at Georgia where Junior, Justin Kirstein captured a win in the first round of Division II Flight. Kirstein holds a 5-2 singles record so far this fall and will represent Tech in the top flight this weekend. He takes on two-seed Alex Das from EKU 11:00 a.m tomorrow.

Joseph Proctor, a freshman for Tech will join Kirstein in the Flight 1 singles tomorrow morning at 10:30. This will be the third tournament Proctor has played for Tech. He competed in the UNCG Invitational and IU Invitational where he gained wins in singles and doubles.

Coach, Kenny Doyle is also bringing players James Crawford and Lloyd Harris. Harris will be playing in the second singles flight against two-seed from EKU, Paul Verma. Crawford, who last played in the IU Invitational with success in doubles, will represent Tech in the fourth singles flight.

Before the four set out for singles play, they will team up for some doubles action, beginning at 8:30 a.m Friday. Proctor and Kirstien will be competing in the Flight 1 doubles and Crawford and Harris will play in the third doubles flight.
