COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Golden Eagle tennis standouts Josh Girling
and Justin Kirstein will be in Athens, Ga., this weekend to
represent Tennessee Tech at the 43rd Annual Southern
Intercollegiate Championships, being hosted by the University of
Georgia.
A total of 34 schools will send players to the event, which gets
underway Friday at 7:45 a.m. CDT. The tournament will take place at
both the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the UGA campus and the
Intramural Courts.
Girling, a senior from Winchester, England, has compiled a 7-1
record this fall. He will complete in the Division I singles
flight, with a 9 a.m. match against Michael Pereira from UNC
Wilmington. Kirstein, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa,
will play in the Division II singles flight with his opening match
slated for 7:45 a.m. against Alan Donald from Wofford.
Girling and Kirstein will also pair up to play in the Division I
doubles flight. Their opening contest is at 5 p.m. Friday against
Kinshuk Sharm and Chris Cooprider from UNC Wilmington.
