COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men’s tennis team will compete in seven tournaments throughout six states during the course of the fall season. Head coach Kenny Doyle announced the team's fall schedule this week.

“We’re looking forward to the fall season,” Doyle said. “We’ll play a lot and it’s an opportunity for a lot of guys to get in some good competition and improve from it.”

Doyle has eight players returning in 2010-11 including seniors Josh Girling, Mario Gutierrez and Lloyd Harris, juniors Alex Chen and Justin Kirstein, and sophomores Yianni Doropolous, Arturo Santa Ruiz and John Taylor.

Doyle's team kicks off its 2010 fall schedule at the UNC Greensboro Fall Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., Sept. 10-12. The Golden Eagles next stop will be at the Indiana University Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., Sept. 17-19.

In the month of October the Golden Eagles participate in four different events beginning with the UTC Fall Classic, Oct. 1-3 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Some of Tech's players hope to qualify for the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., October 2-10, while the remainder of the team will play at the Elon University Invitational in Elon, N.C. Oct. 8-10.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the month of October at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships in Lexington, Ky., Oct. 21-25.

“If somebody were to step up and have some great wins it can lead to rankings. The regional event is a big event, with all the major schools, so it gives our guys a chance to play, to enjoy it, to compete and learn from it,” Doyle said.

Tech concludes its fall schedule as it takes part in the Crimson Tide Fall Invitational, Nov. 3-5, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
