Golden Eagles make it three straight as they down Belmont

NASHVILLE -- Despite some tough competition, the Tennessee Tech men's tennis team was able to keep rolling as it won its third straight dual with a 4-3 victory at Belmont.

Belmont struck first in the doubles matches as it took the first two matches. The Golden Eagles lone win in the doubles matches came off the racquets of Yianni Doropoulos and Josh Girling, who defeated Christopher Bates and Jonathan Murrell, 8-2.

Down 1-0, the Golden Eagles made a rally in singles as four Golden Eagles earned victories to secure the 4-3 victory.

Girling and Doropoulos carried their double momentum over to the singles matches as they took the No. 1 and No. 6 singles contests. At the top of the ladder, Girling defeated Rodrigo Amaral 6-4, 6-2, while Doropoulos downed Bates 6-3, 6-4, in the sixth position.

Joseph Proctor won his first dual match of the season as he defeated Murrell 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) in the No. 5 single match.

Vasily Eremeev helped cap off the win for the Golden Eagles as he won his fourth straight singles match, defeating Rafael Matos in three sets. Eremeev opened the match with a 6-4 win in the first set, but Matos responded in the second with a 6-3 win. Eremeev recovered quickly in the third as he took the set 6-3 to secure the match.
