RADFORD, Va. – The Tennessee Tech men’s tennis team fell 4-6 on the season as it lost its non-conference dual to Charlotte 4-1 Sunday.
Tech’s lone point came from the doubles matches as the
pairings of Josh Girling and Justin Kirstein in the No. 1 doubles
match and Lloyd Harris and Vasily Eremeev in the No. 2 doubles
match won their matches by the score of 8-5.
The third doubles match, that featured the pairing of Alex
Chen and Murilo DeOliviera, was unfinished at 8-8.
Charlotte took four of the singles matches to earn the
victory, while two of the matches were not completed.
Justin Kirstein fell in the No. 1 singles match as he lost in
three sets by the scores of 6-3, 3-6 and 6-4. DeOliviera lost in
straight sets by the scores of 6-1, 6-1, while Arturo Sanata Ruize
lost 6-2, 6-2. Charlotte secured its victory as James Crawford fell
in the No. 5 singles match in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.
A pair of singes matches that featured Eremeev and Harris
reached a third set, but were not completed.
The Golden Eagles resume conference play Thursday as they take
on Austin Peay in Clarksville, at 2 p.m.
