COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech and UT Chattanooga will meet
Saturday afternoon for the 50th time in men's tennis in the
all-time series beween the two in-state rivals. The Mocs hold a
30-19 advantage in the series, but the Golden Eagles have won the
last two matches and five of the last eight.
The match will be held on the indoor courts at the Hixson Racquet
Club, and fans can follow the action via live stats provided by Chattanooga's website.
Both teams enter the match in search of their first dual match
victory of the season. UTC is 0-4 with losses to Lipscomb, Middle
Tennessee, Austin Peay and Memphis. Tech is 0-3, also
dropping matches to MTSU and Memphis, plus a season-opening loss at
No. 38 Vanderbilt.
Senior Alex Chen plays at the No. 1 singles spot in coach Kenny
Doyle's lineup, and has posted a 2-1 mark in duals this spring.
Junior Josh Girling owns the top won-loss record on the Golden
Eagle roster in singles play at 10-8 overall. Girling teams with
sophomore Vasily Eremeev at the No. 1 doubles position.
