John is a new addition to the Golden Eagle roster in 2009-2010, a local player from Crossville who will provide depth for coach Kenny Doyle's squad...a highly versatile athlete who earned letters in five sports during his high school career, he's also successful in the classroom... he started off his sophomore year and first season of playing strong earning 6 wins in the first two tournaments and prominent doubles results as well.

AT TECH --
In Fall 2010 (Sophomore): John participated in his first tournaments this fall since arriving at Tech in 2009, and revealed he can be a big contributer for the team as he works to seal a position in the line-up this spring. He posted a 6-3 singles record and 3-4 doubles record. He started off the season, at the UNCG Invitational with a 3-1 record when he captured the first three rounds to advance to the quarterfinals. In the Indiana Invitational the following weekend, John lost his first round but rebounded strong with three straight set wins to take the title of the backdraw. At the Indiana Invitational, while teamed with freshman, Joseph Proctor, the duo fell in the first round but won the next two rounds against Xavier and Detroit Mercy. John revealed a lot of promise in his future endeavors at Tech.

In 2009-2010 (Freshman):
John did not participate in any of Tech's tournaments during the fall season.

High School:
John attended Stone Memorial High School in Crossville (Tenn.) where he lettered in basketball soccer, football, golf and tennis...recieved the academic honors of Quiznos Student-Athlete of 2008, East Tennessee Student-Athlete of 2009 and was a candidate for the Wendy's Heisman Award.

Personal: Son of Marjorie and Vic Taylor of Crossville, Tenn...born on February 18, 1991...major is exercise science with a concentration in physical therapy.
