CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team saw the 2024-25 campaign officially come to an end on Tuesday, as the Golden Eagles completed the third and final round of stroke play at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The purple and gold moved up a spot to finish ninth in the final stroke play standings, recording a 297 on the day for a composite 897. Little Rock captured first place on the final stroke-play leader board, qualifying for the match-play portion of the league's tournament, along with Lindenwood, UT Martin, and Morehead State.
Earning individual medalist honors for stroke play were Little Rock's Rhett South and UT Martin's Jonathan Xoinis, each tallying scores of 210 for the week.
For the Golden Eagles, junior Haden Maxwell climbed the rankings to finish in a tie for 23rd overall with a three-day total of 220. The veteran carded a 1-under 71 for his final round of the year, racking up three birdies and an eagle on the par-4 10th hole.
Rookie Spencer Stuke ended his first collegiate season with an impressive showing at the OVC Championships, tying for 30th behind a final score of 223. The freshman was efficient on his way to a third-round 74, tallying two birdies and 13 pars.
Sophomore Matthew Shull collected a third round of 76 to conclude his first OVC Championship appearance, producing three birdies. He ranked 36th with a composite 225. Freshman Drew Bolton also turned in a 76, sporting one birdie while totaling 229 for the event.
Taking over in the third round for sophomore Alex Broyles as a substitute, freshman Hil Thompson got his first taste of the postseason in the third and final round. The rookie picked up two birdies on his way to an 83.
