GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team finished off the first round of the Craft Farms Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon, competing at Cotton Creek Golf Course in Gulf Shores, Ala. in South Alabama's event.
Nearly each of the 14 teams in the field completed round two of the tournament as well with anticipated inclement weather on the horizon. Three teams did not fully complete the second round, meaning complete results through round two could not be fully realized at the conclusion of the day.
Following round one, Tech was tied for 12th with Bradley, posting a 300 as a unit. Texas State led the way with a 285. Loyola Maryland's Michael Crowley led all 75 individuals, turning in a 4-under 68.
The Golden Eagles were led by Jackson Skeen through the opening 18 holes, tying for 17th overall with a 1-over 73. The sophomore turned in three birdies while racking up 12 birdies.
Tying for 23rd in the field was veteran Sean Anderson, carding a 2-over 74. The senior piled up 14 pars and a birdie for his solid opening round.
One stroke back of his teammate, rookie Anders Larson registered a 3-over 75 to tie for 32nd. The freshman registered a team-high five birdies on the day. Mark McDearman rounded out the scoring in round one, tying for 60th with a 78, a birdie, and an eagle on the par-5 third hole.
Freshman Haden Maxwell did not register a score in the opening round.
Round two scores are expected to be completed Monday, while round three will be competed as weather allows over the next two days.
