BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time since its inception in 2018-19, the Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Month Award found its way to Cookeville Tuesday morning as announced by the league.

Already the first Tennessee Tech men's golfer ever to win OVC Freshman of the Year last season, sophomore Jackson Skeen made more program history by becoming the first to take home the conference's monthly honor. Skeen led the purple and gold in each of the team's first two tournaments on the year, positioning himself as one of the best in the league early for the 2022-23 campaign.

The Jonesborough, Tenn. native entered Tuesday leading the OVC in scoring average, posting an impressive mark of 69.17 through six rounds. Skeen kicked off the year by tying for third at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, improving each round on his way to a career-low 205.

He turned in rounds of 71, 68, and a career-best 66 to finish 11-under at the event. The 205 represented the sixth-lowest 54-hole effort in program history.

A week later, the second-year Golden Eagle turned in another All-Tournament performance, tying for fifth at The Grover Page Classic. He put forth a 210 backed by rounds of 69, 67, and 74.

The Golden Eagles are set to wrap up action at their third event of the season, the Georgia State Invitational, later Tuesday afternoon. Skeen entered the final round of action fourth among the 87 competitors, once again leading the Cookeville crew.
