BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the third time this fall, Tennessee Tech's Nick Sutton was honored as the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Golfer of Week, as announced by the league Wednesday morning.

In the team's final even of the fall campaign, the sophomore turned in his best collegiate performance to date, capturing individual medalist honors at the Battle at Black Creek. His first win as a Golden Eagle, the youngster bested the field by a whopping five shots.

Sutton delivered a career-low, 12-under 204 over the two-day event, tying for the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in program history with TTU Hall of Famer Scott Stallings. After delivering a 1-under 71 to open the event, the Matthews, N.C. native fired off a career-best, 6-under 66 in the second round, skyrocketing to a tie for first place.

He closed the tournament in style, cruising to victory with a 5-under 67. Sutton led the 96-mand field with 20 birdies throughout the week, as well as par-3 scoring (-2) and par-5 scoring (-9).

Sutton is now the first Golden Eagles to be named Golfer of the Week three times in the same season, as well as the same semester, since Matthew Giles collected three honors in the fall of the 2015-16 campaign.
