McDearman named to All-OVC Team, OVC All-Newcomer Team

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech freshman Mark McDearman was named to both the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team and OVC All-Newcomer Team Saturday evening.

The awards were announced following the practice rounds of the 2021 OVC Championships, which is being held at the Fighting Joe Course at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala.

McDearman, the son of former Golden Eagle golfer John McDearman (1988-92), the Lebanon, Tenn. native ranked ninth in the OVC in scoring heading into the weekend's first round on Sunday, posting a team-low stroke average of 72.56. He ranked second on the squad with five rounds at or under par and one top-10 finish.

The rookie played in three of Tech's five spring events, collecting a season-low round of 69 in his first collegiate event, the Golden Eagles' own Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. He tied for ninth with a season-best 54-hold score of 2-under 214.
