GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team used the third and final round of The National Intercollegiate to move up the leaderboard Tuesday afternoon at the National Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
The Golden Eagles turned in their lowest round of the tournament on the day, recording a 297 for a final three-round total of 903. UT Martin won the event with a 9-under 855, defeating North Alabama by nine shots. Nick Wolf of UT Martin and Brent Hamm of Troy tied for the individual medalist honors, each shooting a 12-under 204 for the weekend.
Freshman Mark McDearman and junior Bryce Beeler each shared the Tech lead for the event, tying for 29th in the field of 75 golfers with total scores of 222. Beeler carded the low round of the day for the purple and gold, firing a 1-under 71. McDearman rounded out his tournament with a 75 in the third round.
Next on the Tech leaderboard was sophomore Nick Sutton, who captured a 76 on the day to finish tied for 53rd with a 230 overall. Senior Bracton Womack tied for 64th after posting a 78 for a 233 for the event.
Rounding out the Golden Eagle lineup was Chance Taylor, who delivered his best round of the weekend with a 75 in round three. He finished with a 235 overall.
Tech will return to action next week at the Golfweek Spring Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The tournament will take place at True Blue Golf Club on Monday, Apr. 5 and Tuesday, Apr. 6.
