Tech in seventh after first two rounds of F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

DICKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team knocked out the first two rounds of action at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate Monday, competing at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.

The Golden Eagles completed day one of play with rounds of 292 and 294. The team's collective score of 586 ranked it seventh among the 11 teams at 10-over. UT Martin led the event headed into the final round, firing a 561 to sit 15-under and three strokes ahead of host Austin Peay.

For the Tech bunch, it was senior Dabney Dickenson pacing the group with a top-10 showing. He tied for ninth after capturing rounds of 73 and 69 to come into the clubhouse at 2-under and with a 142.

Tying for 22nd in the field of 71 golfers was Cookeville native Will brooks. The junior shot a 1-under 71 in round one, following with a 2-over 74 to complete the day with a 1-over 145. Next among the Golden Eagles on the leaderboard was sophomore Cade Puryear. Playing in his first tournament of the year, Puryear put forth a 73-75=148 to tie for 39th and sit 4-over.

Fellow sophomore Chance Taylor tied for 50th after finishing the day with a 7-over 151. The youngster turned in rounds of 75 and 76 heading into the final day. Rounding out the Tech lineup was rookie Nick Sutton. The freshman tied for 52nd with back-to-back rounds of 76 and a total of 152.

Also tying for 52nd while making his collegiate debut was freshman Sean Anderson, who competed as an individual. The first-timer also posted two straight scores of 76 for a 152 overall. UT Martin's Jack Story led all golfers with a 66-70=136 to sit 8-under.

Round three of the event is set to begin Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. CT at Greystone Golf Club.
