Tech men's golf team headed for SIUE's Derek Dolenc Invitational

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team continues the 2019-20 calendar with a trip to Madison, Ill. Monday, taking part in the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by SIUE at Gateway National Golf Links.

SIUE DEREK DOLENC INVITATIONAL: Sept. 23-24, 2019 – 54 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-71, 7,092-yard Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill. Teams will kick off with 8:15 a.m. CT shotgun starts each day.

GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are junior Will Brooks, sophomore Chance Taylor, senior Cameron Yeary, sophomore Bryce Beeler and junior Bracton Womack. Also competing as an individual is freshman Nick Sutton.

THE COMPETITION: The 18-team field consists of host SIUE, as well as, Austin Peay, Belmont, Bradley, Creighton, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Loyola Chicago, Missouri State, Murray State, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, Omaha, Southern Utah, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Weber State, Western Illinois.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH BROWN: "The guys finished strong at EKU and we look to keep that momentum going at SIUE. We put ourselves in a great position going into the last day at last year's event, so our team has had success there. We look forward to putting ourselves in that same situation this year."

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Tech will send the same lineup to this year's Derek Dolenc Invitational as it did to last year's edition, with the only addition being the rookie, Sutton. Last year, the Golden Eagles placed seventh among 17 teams in action. Womack led the purple and gold in 2018, tying for 25 with a 73-70-75=218.
