Tech men's golf team 9th among 16 teams after first day of Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team completed not one, but two rounds on the first day of the Wofford Invitational Monday evening, competing among a field of 16 at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

The Golden Eagles ranked 9th among those 16 teams, turning in scores of 298 and 293 for a 591 total for the day. It equated to 15-over par for the first two of the tournament's three rounds.

Leading the purple and gold with a monster second round was sophomore Bracton Womack. Tying for 12th among 88 participants, the gunslinger fired a 4-under 68 to pair with a first-round 75 for a 1-under 143.

Next among the Tech finishers was fellow sophomore Will Brooks. He tied for 28th place with a 2-over 146, sporting rounds of 74 and an even-par 72. Senior Matthew Giles posted a 149 after rounds of 74 and 75, tying for 41st overall.

Posting a 153 to tie for 63rd was junior Cameron Yeary. He turned in rounds of 75 and 78. Freshman Bryce Beeler rounded out Tech's lineup with a 162.

Round three of the event is scheduled for an 8:00 a.m. CT shotgun start on Tuesday.
