Golden Eagle men's golf in 13th after first day at Savannah Harbor

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf showed an ability to quickly improve in its first action of the 2019 spring season, shaving 10 strokes from round one to round two of The Invitational at Savannah Harbor.

The Golden Eagles ranked 13th out of 18 teams through two rounds of action at the three-day event at The Club at Savannah Harbor, posting a 594 (302-292). Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay led the field after day one, turning in a 578 (298-280). Individually, it was Belmont's Evan Davis who led the pack at 139 (69-70).

Junior Cameron Yeary paced the purple and gold, tying for 26th among the 95 participants. He shot even-par in round one and followed it up with a 3-over, 75 in round two for a 147.

Right behind were youngsters Will Brooks and Bryce Beeler, both capturing 148s. Brooks, a sophomore, rebounded nicely from a first-round 78 to fire the team's low round of the day, a 2-under 70. The freshman Beeler was steady from start to finish, carding back-to-back 2-over, 74s. The two tied for 35th overall.

Wrapping up the first day with his own signs of improvement was Dabney Dickenson. The junior posted a 78 over the first 18 holes, following up with a 1-over 73. He finished at 151 overall and tied for 57th. Concluding the Tech participants was Bracton Womack with a 156 (78-78).

The third and final round of action in Savannah, Ga. is set to begin Sunday morning with a 7:00 a.m. CT shotgun start.
