Golden Eagles post 316 on day one of East Bay Deli Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team concluded the first round of its final tournament of the fall Sunday afternoon, posting a 316 after 18 holes in the East Bay Deli Classic at Turtle Point on the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Senior Matthew Giles led the way for the Golden Eagles, carding a 76 to tie for 44th in a massive field of 116 golfers. Next among the Tech participants was sophomore Bracton Womack, who finished one shot back of his teammate with a 77. He tied for 56th.

Freshman Chance Taylor was next on the leaderboard for the Golden Eagles, finishing with an 81. One stroke behind was junior Cameron Yeary, who tallied an 82 on the day.

Rounding out the Tech lineup on Sunday was sophomore Will Brooks. The Cookeville native posted an 84 following the first round of action.

Host College of Charleston led all the 21-team field with a 285 in the first round. Memphis' Isaiah Jackson was the first day's individual leader, carding a 6-under 66.

Teams will continue play on Monday morning, beginning with a 6:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
