Golden Eagles better in round two of GolfWeek Program Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team showed improvement in its second trip around True Blue Plantation Monday afternoon, finishing day two of the GolfWeek Program Championship five strokes better than the first day of play.

The Golden Eagles posted a 291 in the second round, combining with their day-one total of 296 for a score of 587. Tech ranked 13th out of 14 teams while Campbell extended its lead of the event to a whopping 19 strokes. The Camels posted a 274 to sit at 543 overall, thanks to the play of Max Theodorakis, who led all individuals with a 133 overall after a second-round 63.

For Tech, it was sophomore Will Brooks who led the way for the second straight day. After tying for first among the Golden Eagles on Sunday with a 73, the youngster turned in a 3-under 69 on the power of four birdies for a 142 overall score. He ranked in a tie for 20th among the 74 participants.

Senior Matthew Giles trimmed three strokes from his first round of action, tying for 46th after finishing day two with a 72. He tallied five birdies on the day, bringing his total to 147 for the event. Bracton Womack compiled a 78 to sit at 153 overall and in a tie for 67th.

Next among the Golden Eagle participants was junior Dabney Dickenson, who carded an 83 for an overall score of 156. Fellow junior Cameron Yeary notched three birdies on his way to an even-par 72.

Tech will wrap up play in Myrtle Beach Tuesday morning, starting with tee times at 6:39 a.m. CT.
